Mercury switch, also known as tilt switch, is a kind of circuit switch. A small drop of mercury is stored in a small container followed by electrodes. Most of the containers are filled with inert gas or vacuum.


Working principle
Because of gravity, mercury droplets will flow with the lower part of the container. If the two electrodes are contacted at the same time, the switch will close the circuit and turn on the switch.


Note: Mercury is toxic to human body and environment, so when using mercury switch, please be careful to avoid breaking out; when no longer in use, it should be handled properly.
