The AD9833 is a low power, programmable ancillary micro-controller able to generate sinusoidal,, triangular, and square wave form outputs.
The output frequency and phase are programmable via software allowing easy tuning without the need for external components.
Frequency registers have 28 bit resolution; with a 25 MHz clock frequency, resolution of 0.1Hz can be achieved; with a 1 MHz clock frequency, the AD9833 can be tuned for 0.004Hz resolution.
The AD9833 uses a standard serial interface that allows the part to interface directly with different microprocessors and uses a serial clock external to write data or information into the control device
The AD9833 also has a power-down function (Sleep mode). This allows sections of the device that are not used to be turned off, thus minimizing the power consumption part, for example, the DAC can be turned off when an output clock is generated
